Mystery Shopper

Posted on May 15, 2011 Posted in: Blog

A few weeks ago a “mystery shopper” from Microsoft paid us a visit. They wanted to confirm that we were not installing counterfeit or illegal copies of Windows on our custom built and used systems.

We just received a letter from them indicating that we passed (no surprise to us) with flying colours! They found everything correct with all the proper packaging. It’s a great feeling when your told that your doing it right.

Counterfit Guitars Gibson, Fender, Gretch, etc.

Posted on March 3, 2011 Posted in: Blog

A harsh part of our reality here at the Parlour is dealing with Chinese

made counterfit guitars.  In the past year a few of these terribly

made knockoffs have crossed our path.  We are now working closely

with the big guitar manufacturers to put a stop to fake Gibsons,

Fenders, Gretch, etc…. products and have a list of criteria that an

American made instrument has to pass in order that the Parlour can

purchase it.  This is a statement of credibility from the Parlour to our

loyal customers, and a warning to those who would take advantage

of us and our customers.

Need for Speed-Hot Pursuit

Posted on January 21, 2011 Posted in: Blog

Hi there. This is Randy manager of the Parlour Games Dept.

If you ever decide to play NFS Hot Pursuit do yourself a favour and drive over to your local drugstore and purchase a bottle of Visine. Man this game is fast! My eyeballs were dried out throughout this experience. Criterion Games are masters at Arcade Racers. No one knows how to capture the sense of speed like the folks at Criterion! If you are a fan of the Burnout Series then be sure to check this out.

Good luck and God Speed. (Seriously)

A View To A Kill

Posted on January 13, 2011 Posted in: Blog

No not the James Bond movie.  I’m referring to the gaming experience you’ll receive after playing your favorite PC game on one of the new Asus 24″ LED/LCD Monitors now available at The Parlour.  With five different viewing modes such as Standard, Scenery, Theatre, Game, and Night Viewing, you can choose the best picture for your taste.  You can also tweak the settings once you choose a viewing mode.  You are also able to choose what connection type you like according to your computer’s video output.  Choose from standard VGA or DVI and even HDMI for best quality. So come in to The Parlour and see what this monitor has under the hood, lol.

1972 Fender Stratocaster neck

Posted on January 6, 2011 Posted in: Blog

Vintage guitars, vintage parts, vintage amps! living the dream!

What is there to say about this 1972 strat neck. Nobody drilled any holes in the head or for that matter, no one drilled any holes for the tuners or anywhere else. There may have been a refret or it could possibly be the years of sweat around the frets that removed small bits of finish. This has a gorgeous patina and is straight as an arrow.

If you’re going to find a 72′ strat neck for less it must be broken!

(front of heal reads 22/june/72 B.)

Gibson J-185 (1954)

Posted on Posted in: Blog

Have I mentioned my job is crazy awesome! Here’s the deal. J 185′s are criminally underrated because they are rare. Rare to the point that most people will never get the chance to play one. Their collect-ability is B+ and they appreciated at about 14% a year (from 2000 to 2008). These instruments are part of the mid-echelon of investment instruments. (but so were were a number of other vintage sleepers that exploded into tens of thousands of dollars!)

Double pickguard, tobacco burst. A neck reset and some love and tender care with the top and it just keeps on sounding better and richer.

Gibson J-185

Posted on December 30, 2010 Posted in: Blog

We are excited about our new aquisition! Manufactured in 1954 this guitar is in amazing shape and comes with the original case.
First one we have seen in 30 years of selling guitars.

A very rare guitar the J-200 is better known but many consider the Gibson J-185 a better sounding guitar.
For more info give us a call. We are quite happy to accept trades for this guitar.
