What Is Tone Pt 3: Attack

Hi from The Parlour.  We’re all about tone.

Attack or “rise time” of a note, refers to the response of a guitar when played. Guitars with quick rise times can sound more responsive.  Quick rise times offer better definition between notes.  Some guitars like this can sound hard or thin by how the note lasts or decays after being played.
